You're probably tired of hearing about Britney Spears, am I right? I know I am. Seems like every time I turn on the TV, I hear about Crazy Britney and how she screwed up again. Even the magazines, movies, and late night comedians have picked up on poor ol' Britney. Well guess what? Now she's somewhere else...your department store. That's right, Britney Spears has introduced another perfume, her fourth. It's causing quite a stir, but that might not be a good thing. Ok, so I'm not a Britney Spears fan, but you don't have to be a fan of the woman to like her perfumes. At least, I don't think so. All that's required is a nose and an appreciation of good smells. That is to say, I liked it; I'm not sure if you will, but it can't hurt to try! Britney Spears has four different perfumes on the market right now. The first three (Curious, Fantasy, and In Control) were released annually beginning in 2004. Curious actually won best fragrance in 2004 and 2005. The newest fragrance is Fantasy Midnight, and it has debuted to mixed reviews. You can find Britney Spears perfumes online or you can go to your local department stores. Your best bet would be to shop online - it's cheaper, though you can't smell them first. Britney Spears perfumes are made my Elizabeth Arden with complete cooperation of the star. In other words, Britney does know these are being sold in her name and is most likely getting a big slice of the perfume pie. Britney Spears is just one in a long line of celebrities diving into the world of perfumes, swimming in the same pool as Elizabeth Taylor, Prince and fellow blonde Paris Hilton. The oldest of the Britney Spears perfume line up is Curious, a typical perfume for the non-typical female. It is packaged in a classic blue or pink perfume bottle in sort of squashed diamond shape. It is recommended for special occasions or for trying to get a good estimate on your car repair down at Hank's Garage. It is considered a youthful, fun, flowery and yet sexy fragrance. One of the middle children of the Britney Spears perfume family, Fantasy has an incredible marketing campaign. Going to the official website, there is gorgeous computer animation with lush, sensual colors and sparkles. It is amazing what this country spends on frivolities such as perfume. And even more amazing - someone got paid for thinking this campaign up! Perhaps making perfume look like Love Potion No.9 was someone's Fantasy at Elizabeth Arden. In Control was Britney Spears next perfume. It was supposed to be a combination of Curious and Fantasy, but it turned out to be more of a bomb than a blast. Wearers constantly complained about the weak scent and the constant need to reapply the fragrance to continue smelling it, a shame since 90% of the people surveyed said they liked the smell. The latest Britney Spears perfume, Midnight, has been plagued with troubles, though different from the last perfume. This time the complaint wasn't that it was too weak, instead, it was too strong! Many wearers described it as an intoxicating, or even sickening, effect after wearing it for an hour or two. The scent has been compared to grape bubblegum or grape kool-aid. Expect to pay anywhere from $50 to $70 if you go shopping at a department store, or $30 to $50 if you shop around (prices for a 3.3oz bottle). In the end, I think it just has to be tried to be determined. Seems like some people love it and some don't. I'd say just try it out on you and if you like it, come back to the house and buy it.
