You are dealing with a test that compares a person's perception of sounds making it more scientific than the Weber test. The way sound is transmitted here is through the air or by bone conduction through the mastoid. Both the Weber and Rinne tests utilize a vibrating tuning fork which is able to make a higher frequency sound. What happens here is that the tuning fork is placed on the mastoid process until the sound disappears. What follows this is the tuning fork being placed outside the ear by the examiner. There is a chance that you will not be able to hear sounds with a hearing impairment. When you have a hearing problem, you will not be able to hear. Hearing problems are detected by the Rinne test in this manner. Coming with evaluations for hearing are speech evaluations. Here, what the audiologist will do is play sounds in different frequencies and then the person being tested will be asked to repeat the sounds that are audible. If you can hear well, you can hear sounds and at the same time distinguish words. Based on the results of a hearing evaluation, a person may be instructed to visit specialists if necessary.
