You don't have to spend a ton of cash to go on a nice romantic date in Atlanta. Just a short drive up Ga. 400 from I-285 at the Northridge exit six, you will find the Chattahoochee National Park. This park is a perfect place to spend a day with your significant other, and end it with a romantic sunset outdoor picnic or cookout as the sunsets over the Chattahoochee River. You and your date can simply stroll around any of the well-maintained paths following the rivers shoreline, or hike any of the three plus mile well marked and well maintained hiking trails. There are excellent opportunities here for photographing nature, and wildlife. White tail deer are abundant as well as squirrels and other forest critters running around. If by chance you and your date find trout fishing interesting, this is the perfect spot for you. There are shoal sections of the river that are shallow enough to easily wade, and a deep section of the river with a small deck that can be easily fished from shore. The rainbow trout here are huge. It's not a bit unusual to bring in a nineteen-inch or larger rainbow trout. Other than hiking, trout fishing, or strolling around the paths taking advantage of the photography opportunities, there is also a large log visitor's center that looks like a huge Alaskan lodge. The visitor's center has a nice large stone fireplace that keeps burning during cold weather, with nice quiet seating areas with rocking chairs, and a leather couch where you and your date can just sit, relax, talk, or catch up on some reading. The visitor's center also has a handful of books for purchase all about nature, hiking, plants, animals, and fishing. If you have kids on your date with you, the visitor's center also houses a small for kids only nature room which has a small kids table, and kids rocking chairs, and the entire room is surrounded with nature information, toys, and books, so if you and your date have kids with you, they will stay safely entertained here. You can bring a picnic lunch to enjoy at any of the many picnic tables along the rivers pathways, or bring food for a excellent cookout at any of the furnished park grills, or have a cookout under the large covered pavilion that also has a huge stone grill and smoker. This entire park area has a variety of activities sure to keep you and your date entertained, but one notable accommodation is the picnic table located on the river behind the visitor's center, which sets on a short dock going over the Chattahoochee River. This one picnic spot is the place to experience an awesome sunset scene while eating your dinner. As the sun sets at this perfectly romantic spot, the atmosphere feels very deep mountain forest with a beautiful sunset. So if you're looking for that perfect little spot in Atlanta to take your date, try this place out. There is a small parking fee, but outside of that, and the food you bring to eat, that's all your cost, so to say this is a date that goes easy on the wallet may well be an understatement. Just make sure you bring along your camera, all your dinner needs, and some romantic music, and perhaps a windproof candle to add to the romantic atmosphere.
