An Ecologically, Economically and Culturally Effective Tour to Morocco

Morocco is a top tourist destination that draws a throng of crowd every year. This has generated a need to educate visitors making a tour to Morocco so that they make their trip keeping the environmental, economic and cultural factors in mind.

A significant aspect of a tour to Morocco is the Atlas Mountains. It is one of the best tourist sites in Africa. If you are planning trek and hike on its snow-covered slopes you should be aware enough to prevent unintentional or belligerent defacement of this natural beauty. If you are making a tour to Morocco for hiking, try to keep group size to two or three maximum. This will obviously reduce the environmental impact.

Don’t bring too many supplies that are likely to be needed on the way. They will be available on the way especially up to Mt. Toubkal in the High Atlas Mountains.

Try not to bring bottled water. These days pumps, filters, chemicals and UV rays available as filtration devices to filter water. Bring them to reduce bottled waste. Besides bottles, avoid bringing the packets of the products that you will carry for the trekking.

Excrete or urinate at least 70 feet downhill from campsites and water bodies. Make dip pit for the purpose. If you are unable to do so cover it with leaves, dirt and sticks.

If you see waste on you way like packaging or plastics, pick them up and remove them to places of disposals. Always carry biodegradable toiletries for washing. Do not harm any plants during the trail.

You can also take some economic steps besides the environmental ones to help the local community. Hire local muleteers and guides in the area. They can guide you best about seeing the local sites. You can also stay in the local houses or hotels instead of camping. This will be great way to give back to the community in which you are moving through.

Make local purchases mainly in forms of nuts dry fruits etc. This is good way to help the nation economically. When you pay, pay reasonably. Do not pay too much nor pay too less, such discrepancy creates an inflation cycle.

Maintain a good will with everyone. Paying tip is quite a norm here especially to the guide. It is mainly 10 %, if you can, you may pay a little more.

Your tour to Morocco should be made keeping the local culture in mind. You should take photos of the locals only after asking them. You can send them the photos once they are deliver to your home. The mail delivery system is very smooth and quick in Morocco.

Respect holy places. Do not take snaps there if there is a prohibition. Show respect to the local visitors of the shrines. Avoid giving gifts or money to children.

If somebody asks about the west do not brag of it as it is a paradise. Give a very realistic picture that is balanced showing good as well as negative sides.
