If you get cold just thinking about Alaska, or if your idea of a great time outdoors is putting on headphones and walking your dog for ten or fifteen minutes, read no further. On the other hand, if Alaska sounds like it might be your kind of place, reading further may expose you to a university you'll find very attractive. Alaska Pacific University is a truly unique institution. APU's 200 acre campus includes a lake, and it's not unusual to see a moose, birds, or other animals on campus. While students may choose to major in liberal arts or business, APU seems most suited to those interested in fields like marine biology, outdoor studies, environmental studies, or environmental policy and planning. With what the University calls the "true wilderness" within a half hour from campus, where better to learn about the environment? And, students can take advantage of University courses in Hawaii, Borneo, Paris, Barcelona, and Vietnam during the APU January block. APU can probably be best categorized as a niche or specialty university. It's focus, the special opportunities it offers, and the philosophy which drives it all set it apart. For the right student, it sounds like a great place.
