A Little NASCAR History

By: Todd Whitman

Stock car racing became very popular after the 2nd world war but was still in its infancy. The amount of race tracks available were nowhere near the quality which we have today and the level of safety was very low. In 1947 a meeting was held by Bill France for discussions on creating 1 body to govern the stock car racing. By the end of their discussions the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing was introduced to the world.
As the years passed by the popularity of NASCAR grew tremendously. After its first 10 years in existence the cars which were being raced were made faster and so too did the crowds became larger. Soon after the races itself outgrew their current track and the move from Daytona beach to Daytona International Speedway took place. The first race held in the new track was one to remember, ending in a photo finish the judges took three days just to decide who would be the winner. Of course we have well advanced since then and so do we see how far NASCAR has come from since its introduction, if that's not something to be amazed about then I don't know what is.
As usual after time we always wish to advance and so too did the NASCAR wish for their cars to become faster and more powerful. In 1960 we were introduced to the very well known Talladega Superspeedway or the Alabama International Motor Speedway and from this so too did many other race tracks appear throughout the country such as Dover, Pocono and Brooklyn.
The great success that we have seen from NASCAR is no surprise. From ever since people have always wanted to travel faster and intensify the excitement and so did the NASCAR. From this it is no surprise that it is in its current status in the world today and still going strong. Everyday newcomers to the sport are surfacing and every day the loyal and old timers of the sport keep their spirit strong in the sport. As times changed so too did the industry, now we can see more merchandise's being available for the general public such as, mugs, jerseys, NASCAR videos, model race cars, whole model track sets and many, many more.
NASCAR has shown to the world the level of quality they bring to the table and even if you know nothing of NASCAR who doesn't like to see cars going at max speeds pushing themselves to see who wins the title and becomes the fast and more bravest. I say with all positivity that there is no chance that NASCAR is going to go anywhere EVER and I am sure that all the fellow diehard fans don't need to think twice in agreeing with me on this subject. fast cars, good people and a ton load of fun is what NASCAR is about and anyone who knows anything about it can testify to that fact. We can all be sure to see great things in the future and one can only imagine what next will be put forth on the car racing arena.
