The new Flip Mino HD will surely delight those who had fun using its predecessors. Although there aren't many significant differences between the new and the older versions, certain features of the new Flip Mino HD give it an edge over the earlier versions. The new pocket camera seems to be slim; it is about 1.5 inches slimmer than the older models of the series. Its stunning metal body makes you want to keep looking at it. The soft rounded edges make it comfortable to hold even with one hand. It is a good change from the sharp edged plastic body. The new screen is bigger and sharper too, which is 2 inches with a video resolution of 1280x720. The best part about the new Mino HD is the capacity of its internal memory. It is now a whopping 8GB, exactly double as compared to the previous one. Further, the new model allows you to continuously watch videos for two hours instead of the earlier limit of 60 minutes. After the take-over of Flip by Cisco, certain drastic changes have been made to almost all aspects of the camera. The enhanced features of the camera are a definite sign of the same. The processor speed has been enhanced too. You can now even share your videos because of the HDMI port, a new feature of this model. Although this port was there in the earlier models, it was covered with an ugly-looking cap. Now there is a small switch that needs to be pressed to swing it open and close. Absolutely smart nah! The bad part is that the camera does not come with a HDMI cable. You need to buy the cable separately. There are certain things have not been taken care of. The sensor, lens, and the extremely sensitive touch pads that get activated by an accidental touch are all exactly the same as in the previous versions. They are really annoying features. The sensor is perfect for close up shots when the lighting is appropriate. When the light is low, the result is hazy. Further, stills cannot be taken as the camera does not have the optical zoom feature. The new Flip Mino HD is undoubtedly one of the simplest easy-to-use cameras available for recording videos. Plus, it suits your wallet too. The Kodak models are superior yet you cannot just ignore the Flip. However, in order to survive the intense competition provided by smart phones and ipod nano, both of which are known for their excellent performance, the Flip has to get rid of its flaws soon.
