Every day, as network marketers, we make decisions about which marketing strategies we are going to use in our business. Some techniques are essentially “free” while others cost money and these costs can vary quite a bit. It's important to keep in mind when choosing paid or free strategies that whatever we don't spend in money, we will have to spend in time and vice versa. So, it’s really a matter of perspective. A free marketing technique may not cost you money out of your bank account, but it will cost you time, so always be mindful of how much your time is worth to you! I’m certainly not saying that the following techniques are not worth doing simply because they are free. I’m just pointing out that you will have to invest your time if you want to see any significant results. I truly believe in the following four strategies and know they can be quite effective in generating free network marketing leads, so let's get to them 4 Strategies To Generate Free Network Marketing Leads 1. Article Marketing Article marketing can be one of the most consistent and effective ways to market your business, but it is so important that it is done correctly. It’s not article marketing if you throw an article up on a single site from time to time. You need to do some keyword research first, to decide what you should be writing about and what keywords you are going to target. Then you will need to syndicate your content across the web and ensure that all of your syndicated content is pointing back to your original article. Also keep in mind the use of anchor text, as well as sending your traffic to a website that is ready to convert that traffic. It's all well and good that they read your article, but you want to turn your traffic into leads! There are many tools out there that can assist you with syndicating your content that can save you a lot of time. Some may be as little as $100 or less, while others may cost more, or even require an ongoing monthly fee. Once you decide that you want to implement this strategy into your network marketing business, I would definitely recommend doing your research to find a tool that will help you streamline the process. I realize that this doesn't really make this strategy free, but it can save you so much time and is still such a small amount of money! One other important thing I do want to mention here is when you are writing articles, the intent is to teach others and share information. Writing a bunch of garbage or spammy articles just to write something won't really produce any long term results for you. One of the best things about this technique is that, if done correctly, you will continue to get leads for months or even years to come on a particular article. You do have to be patient, though, and stay consistent and diligent because the results won’t come overnight. However, if you do stick with it, they will come. 2. Video Marketing This is another great strategy and to be honest, when Chad and I got started in this industry, we got some of our first sign-ups from this marketing technique. This can be a very powerful technique because your prospects get to see you, not just your website. Again though, this needs to be done properly. It’s not enough just to throw up a video here and there and say you are doing video marketing. There is keyword research that needs to be done here as well. Also, you will definitely want to have a YouTube account and it’s important that you treat YouTube as you would a social network like Facebook, for example. Meet other marketers, build relationships, provide value and share good content. Just like before, no spammy videos guys! There are also some tools that you could use to help you disseminate your videos to multiple video sites, some free, some not. As always, do your research and decide what fits your needs and budget! 3. Forum Marketing Forum marketing can be a very effective strategy, if done correctly! Joining a bunch of forums and then putting up a post pitching your business opportunity is the quickest way to not get any leads for your business. It never ceases to amaze me the number of network marketers who do this. They join a forum and then proceed to pitch their business in their first post, offering no value to the community. Then, they don't even bother to put up a picture or signature or anything. It just seems like such an utter waste of time to me. You certainly aren't going to be that person because you know it will just be a waste of your time. Instead, decide how many forums you can commit to, maybe 1-3 to start. Take the few minutes to put up a picture and fill out your profile. Okay, so what next, you ask? Well, first of all, like I mentioned above – no pitching in your posts. Any and all selling belongs in your signature. By the way, make sure the link in your signature offers people more than just a generic company capture page or website. The purpose of a forum is to have a place where people with similar interests can go and share ideas and information. It’s a place to ask questions and have questions answered. That’s what you should be doing. Join in the conversation and get to know other people on the forum. It really is a community and a great place to develop relationships. Lead with value and you won’t go wrong. Earlier, I mentioned your forum signature, and I want to touch on that in a little more depth. Most forums provide you with the opportunity to add a link or two to your signature so make them count. You could send people to a personally branded landing page in one link, and then maybe to your blog or website in the other. Just don’t send them to generic pages…that’s the worst thing you can do and the quickest way you can let someone know you are not a leader! By providing value in your posts on the forum and being an active part of the community, others will naturally become interested in you and will look to your signature to learn more about you. That is how you will generate leads, so make sure you send them some place that can do that, like your own blog or your own capture page! If you are using a generic lead generation and training system, that would be a great place to send them. As always, make sure you are sending them to a personally branded landing page! A few great forums you could join are: * RichDad.com * WarriorForum.com * BetterNetworker.com 4. Social Media Marketing Social media marketing can very quickly turn into a time vacuum so be very careful with this one! First of all, you will want to join sites like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn as a few examples. It is important that you take the time to complete your profile, but don’t make it all business. Remember that these are social sites, so it’s important to show that you have more than one dimension and you’re not just a network marketer. Now, go out there and make friends. Get to know people and join in the conversations. Listen to people and find out what they want. Share with your friends, provide them with valuable information, don't just sell to them There is a time for business promotion and affiliate offers, but 90% of the time you should be sharing geat information and demonstrating leadership. Also, you are going to be provided a place where you can put links for your websites. Please please don’t send people to your generic company website/capture page like I mentioned above. (Do I sound like a broken record yet? GOOD. It’s really THAT important!) Generic sites don’t provide your friends with a place to get to know you better, and they certainly don’t provide them with any value. A great place to send them would be to a blog where they can get some great information, get to know you better and hey, sign up for your email list while they are there ;) This will allow you to build an even stronger relationship with them, and from there, who knows? Maybe they will end up on your team down the road, or maybe they will purchase one of your products or an affiliate product. Well, there you go.
